Mosquito Control
In the Bahamas, mosquitoes and sandflies are our number one summer time enemy. However, these insects are more than just an outdoor nuisance. Mosquitoes are in fact, the deadliest animals in the world due to their ability to transmit over a dozen different diseases. The Bahamas has suffered several mosquito-borne disease outbreaks in the past. This makes mosquito control a necessity for protecting you and your family, especially during the warmer months. It is vital to lowering pest populations by including mosquito prevention in your lawn care routine.

How to Prevent Mosquito Problems
Remove any source of standing water. Mosquitoes breed in stagnant water. These sources include rain gutters, buckets, potted plants, swimming pool, old tires, garden ponds, and old junk items.
Keep your yard maintained. Mosquitoes usually rest in bushes, trees, and even weeds. Ensure your yard is cleared of any overgrown areas, and kept trees properly trimmed.
Do a Preventative mosquito treatment. Treating potential breeding and resting sites before mosquitoes become a problem in your yard is key to keeping your environment mosquito free. This will save you the hassle of battling down an active population.
Share this information with your neighbors. Mosquitoes can fly long distances. Preventing mosquitoes in your yard will lessen the population but it will not stop mosquitoes in your neighbor’s yard from flying over. Mosquito prevention should be a community effort. Get your neighbors on board!
